Attendance

Sick Teen (Middle School

Attendance is very important at Tortolita Middle School, with the expectation that all students will attend classes promptly and on a regular basis to achieve the full educational benefit.  Absences should only occur when unavoidable. School attendance is ultimately the responsibility of the student and his/her parents.

Call the Tortolita Middle School 24-hour attendance hotline at (520) 579-4632 or 579-4600 - Press 1 to report your child's absence. When leaving a message please include the student's name, reason for absence, planned date of return, and a contact number. If an absence is to be considered “doctor excused” we must have a note from the doctor.

The attendance clerk is responsible for documenting your child’s attendance, absences and tardies.

If you are requesting an early dismissal do not leave a message on the attendance hotline, it is only checked intermittently throughout the day.  Call the front office by dialing 579-4600 and pressing zero (0) to reach the front desk.

It is our goal to have your child present as often as possible. There are 180 school days in the year. MUSD considers absences of higher than ten percent in a given school year to be excessive.

We believe that a student’s academic (and social) success is often linked to their attendance. By encouraging your student to have a low percentage of absences you are helping them increase their potential for a life of success!
