Prop 411: Protect Class Size & Retain Exceptional Teachers
Proposition 411 is a crucial measure on the upcoming Nov 5, 2024 ballot for the Marana Unified School District. Prop 411 will maintain and slightly increase the current Maintenance and Operations (M&O) override, which supports our students and enhances the quality of education in our community by protecting class sizes and offering competitive salary and wages to teachers and support staff.
About Proposition 411
- Sustains Quality Education: Maintaining and increasing the M&O Override is vital for continuing the educational services, co-curricular programs, and community support systems at MUSD.
- Enhances Student Success: Smaller class sizes and well-compensated teachers and staff directly contribute toward improved student achievement.
- Aligns with Community Growth: The Marana community is growing! Surrounding districts have already increased their local support levels beyond what MUSD currently asks. Investing in Marana schools helps ensure a bright future for all students in our community.
What changes will occur with the proposed increase to the current override?
Prop 411 increases the M&O Override from 10% to 15%. This increase will allow MUSD to spend approximately $5M more in the year following being voter approved. These additional dollars will will be used for:
- Teacher and Support Staff Pay: Increasing salaries to attract and retain high-quality educators, ensuring MUSD remains competitive with other area school districts.
- Class Size: Protecting student-to-teacher ratios for more personalized attention and better educational outcomes.
