Students Participate in JustServ 9-11 Day of Service

A National Day of Service was hosted in honor of the 9/11 anniversary, transforming it into a day of doing good. On September 13, our community came together in the spirit of service, compassion, and unity. Students, families, athletes, service clubs, and members from local churches, including Gate Church, Calvary Marana, Lord of Grace, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, joined forces with neighbors and community members to make a lasting impact. Connections were built and hearts uplifted through the collective effort.

Highlights of Service at Marana Schools:

  • Cleaned, painted, weeded, and repaired facilities at five MUSD schools: Mountain View High School, Coyote Trail Elementary, Marana Middle School, Roadrunner Elementary, and Rattlesnake Ridge Elementary
  • Collected two truckloads of food during the Stop Hunger Walk for Marana High and Marana Middle School pantries
  • Donated 45 pints of blood at the Red Cross blood drive

Across the Town of Marana, volunteers also:

  • Removed trash, including tires, pallets, and flood debris, at El Rio Preserve, protecting wildlife and preparing the area for new flowers, trees, and a beautified pathway
  • Made 800+ seed balls to preserve native seeds for future planting at El Rio Preserve
  • Created art and wrote letters for first responders in a disabilities-friendly project.

This 9/11 Service Day was more than just an event, it was a testament to the strength, kindness, and unity of our community. Together, we honored the legacy of 9/11 by choosing service, compassion, and hope.
